I've written before about how back in those days it wasn't uncommon for a high stakes television production to obtain additional financing by preparing the production to screen theatrically overseas, and I believe that was the case here though I think it went wide under the name of Starflight One. God, how I loved Lauren Hutton in those days.Īlso, I believe I had read something at the time about how the flick was going to be repacked for international release, which may or may not have been a theatrical run. This was essentially a Airport-style movie wannabe but amped up with technology so that it could take place in the heavens over Earth and its cast boasted such big names of the era including Lee Majors, Hal Linden, and the luminous Lauren Hutton. If I remember correctly, I was reasonably smitten with the TV grade special effects and general production detail, though I found some of the performances of its players a bit campy. broadcast television all the way back in 1983. I have a vague recollection of watching Starflight: The Plane That Couldn't Land when it aired on U.S. ![]()
